Level 60 WitchDoctor and Inferno
So Sunday we hit level 60 on our Diablo 3 characters.
We also beat Diablo on Hell mode, beat him the first try BTW, and off to Inferno we went!
We were all excited to start out Inferno mode. Started Act 1 and everything was going fine. Loot and gold drops were much better and we were killing everything in our path. Then we came upon a group of elites. Man we were not prepared! The elites kicked our butts. We died like 5 times before giving up. Inferno mode is Hella hard!!!
We decided we needed to gear up. Better gear with all resistance and higher damage weapons were a must. So we opened up the secret level Whimsyshire in Hell mode, which cost us 500,00 gold just to open it, and decided to start farming for gold so we can purchase better gear on the auction house.
When you hit level 60 you get this new buff called Nephalim Valor which can stack up to 5 times. When you kill a rare boss or elite pack you will get one buff. It last for 30 minutes and gives you an increased magic find and gold find. It refreshes every time you get a new rare boss or elite pack kill. If you change a skill, skill rune, passive, or leave the current game you are running in you will loss all the buffs.
This buff is amazing! We run and get our 5 stacks then head on over to Whimsyshire and start farming. I have managed to replace a number of pieces of my gear so far to include all resistances which seems to be essential in my case to survive Inferno mode.
Once I have replaced my Voodoo Mask, Mojo and grabbed a new Ceremonial Dagger we are gonna go back to Inferno and start again. Only problem is I gotta farm like 3 million more gold to replace these items, because the really good gear costs a fortune on the AH.
So for the next week I play D3 I will be a gold farming little machine.
But once I get my gear I plan on going back to Inferno with a vengence!
Watch out Diablo, I’m coming for you again!!!
Welcome to Whimsyshire: Home of Homicidal Care Bears and Bloodthirsty My Little Ponies
If you were a Diablo 2 player then you know about the secret cow level. Man how I loved that place! I ran it all the time slaughtering every cow in my path. Man, good times
Diablo 3 has a secret level too, but cows are not what you will be seeing.
The secret level in Diablo 3 is called Whimsyshire and is full of rainbows, flowers, teddy bears and unicorns. Adorable right? The area is sparkling happiness! Cute little teddy bears, plump little unicorns and pretty flowers await your arrival ready to greet you with a hello oh, and to rip you to pieces!!! These aren’t the adorable fairytale creatures you read about as little kids. These guys are ready to tear you to shreds. Who new a world full of such wonders could be a nightmare!
The Teddy bears are called Cuddle Bears.
There are also the adorable Chubby Unicorns
Twinkleroots are the names of the flowers.
Don’t let their cuteness fool you. They are ready to attack and you better make sure you strike first!
Below are the details on what you to do to get to Whimyshire:
First you need to collect the following:
Black Mushroom - This item spawns on the first floor of the Cathedral in Act 1.
Leoric’s Shinbone – This item is located in the fireplace in Leoric’s manor in Act 1. It randomly spawns. If you see the logs in the fireplace click on them to get the item. If there are no logs there reset the quest and try again.
Liquid Rainbow – This item can be found in the Mysterious Chest in the Mysterious Cave in Act 2 in Dahlgur Oasis. Zaven The Alchemist is the spawn you need to get the chest. If he isn’t there reset and try again.
Wirt’s Bell - This is the easiest item to retrieve well, because you just buy it! It is sold for 100,000 gold by Squirt the Peddler located in the Caldeum Bazaar in Act 2.
Gibbering Gemstone – This item drops from the boss Chiltara in the Caverns of Frost in Act 3. The Caverns of Frost are not always there. Sometimes Icefall Caves spawn instead. Reset quest again if this is the case. Even if you do get the Caverns of Frost the boss Chiltara is not always there.
Plan: Staff of Herding – The plans drop from the boss Izual in Act 4. He doesn’t always drop them though.
Once you have all the items head to the blacksmith, Haedrig Eamon.
Then pay him 50,000 gold and he will make you the Staff of Herding.
Yeah, You can now go to Whimsyshire!
To get to Whimsyshire start a quest at Act I. Take your waypoint to the Old Ruins and find the road to Old Tristan. Head down the edge of the map till you find a cow skeleton and click on the bones. The Ghost of the Cow King will appear and then you talk to him. He opens Whimsyshire for you and off you go to the secret level. Below is a picture of the Ghost of the Cow King. I love how they added him to the game to get to the new secret level.
To play the secret level, Whimsyshire, in nightmare mode you must buy Plan: Nightmarish Staff of Herding from Gorell the Quartermaster in the Bastions Keep Stronghold. It only cost 1 gold. Sounds good right? The blacksmith Haedrig Eamon isn’t so cheap though. He charges you 200,000 gold to actually make the staff for nightmare mode.
Head on over to virvelvind.net for a more detailed guide on getting all the items. If a item is eluding you they have more detail on where exactly they are located!
Now your adventure in Whimsyshire can begin!
Kill the teddy bears, unicorns and flowers.
Make sure to click on happy clouds attached to rainbows for loot. Once you have looted a happy cloud it will start to bounce. How adorable!
Also make sure to loot presents, mushrooms and pots of gold. All of these items give you loot. When you loot a present it explodes into confetti. How festive!
Also keep a look out for a pinata. Pinatas don’t always spawn while there, but if they do they are overloaded with good loot so you don’t want to pass them up. Below are pics of these items.
Killing the adorable creatures in this area isn’t pretty. Their bodies cause quite a mess. After taking out a large group it looks like a massacre. I just thought it was funny such a violent seen is left behind in this land of sparkles and rainbows! It’s good to know the developers didn’t go all girly on us.
Below is a map of Whimsyshire once it has all been uncovered. It looks like they went to a kindergartner class with construction paper and crayons and asked the kids to draw them a map. I think it’s cute!
I enjoyed the secret cow level of Diablo 2, but Whimsyshire it’s fantastic!
The whole area of Whimsyshire with it’s rainbows and adorable creatures seem so out of place with the rest of the Diablo world that I think it’s perfect as a secret level. Whenever I get tired of battling the Diablo minions I can escape into the world of Whimsyshire and relax in the fantasy surroundings of happy clouds and pretty rainbows. Then one of those chubby little unicorns try to stomp me into the ground!
The Many Minions of My Witch Doctor
A Witch Doctor in Diablo 3 is nothing without her minions!
Zombies, dogs, toads, spiders and more fight side by side with me on all my travels wherever I go.
Above is a picture of the minions that are with me 24/7 as I stroll throughout the lands.
They are my 4 zombie dogs and my Gargantuan zombie. My constant companions and killing machines on every baddie I encounter. I love these boys!
Though these guys are my main minions there are others who help me along the way. Each minion has different abilities depending on the rune you use so I decided to take some screenshots of the ones I thought were the most fun even if I might actually use a different version of them. I switch them out depending on if I need more mana, life or damage.
Above you will see my fetish army. Aren’t those little guys terrify-ling adorable! You can use a rune to get even more of them like I did. They don’t last very long and have a rather large cool down, but when they are out they are massive damage dealing killing machines! With so many of them running around the enemy doesn’t know who to attack!
Say hello to my giant spider! Arachnophobia anyone? This particular Corpse Spiders spell uses the rune that cast one spider queen that produces tons of baby spiders from her body. Those deadly little guys spread all over the place causing damage. So much fun!
Anyone want some frog legs? This big guy has enough meat on him to feed an entire family. I wouldn’t get to close to him though. If you do he will swallow you whole and start the digesting process before spitting you back out. This is one plague of toads you do not want to be a part of!
Ever try to break through a wall of zombies? I can’t imagine it is very much fun. I think this spell is cool, but I don’t ever use it. There are too many other spells that are more important. I still took a screenshot though to share with you all, because it looks hella cool and who doesn’t love to see something cool!
Now the guy above isn’t really a minion, but shows up when I use my mass confusion spell. He makes the enemies fight each other which is always a useful battle strategy. Why fight your enemies if they will fight each other. I took the screenshot because I think he looks funky cool!
I also use bats and locusts as minions when I need to. I couldn’t really get good screenshots of them though that I like enough to put up because they kinda come out in this thick fast swarm.
So there you have it the many cool and deadly minions of my Witch doctor.
Her name is Witchy Pando by the way. Forgot I hadn’t mentioned that yet.
Later tonight or tomorrow keep a look out for my post on the secret level in D3.
Rainbows and unicorns anyone?
My Week in the World of Diablo 3
Well it has been almost a week since Diablo 3 came out and let me tell you what a week it has been! I was a huge fan who played and was addicted to Diablo 2. I was counting down the days till Diablo 3 came out. Since it has been out I have been ignoring my warlock in WOW and obsessing over my Witch Doctor in D3.
As of this morning I officially beat Diablo, with the help of my barbarian hubby, on Nightmare mode!
I am a level 51 Witch Doctor and above is the glorious outfit my scary little witch is wearing at the moment!
I’m still working on getting my banner the way I want. I have spiders and voodoo dolls on it now to represent my scary witch doctor abilities.
I cannot wait to start playing Hell mode.
I feel kinda bad that I haven’t really logged into WOW for a week. I am the guild master and should make some kind of an appearance right? Not that I have missed much on WOW this week though. Half my guild has been playing D3. Our vent has two main channels now, D3 players and WOW players! I figure this week I will get back to playing on WOW, but seriously it was the first week of D3 I HAD to play! I did sign on Friday and Saturday for RBG’s, but there weren’t enough guildies on to do them because half were playing D3 and didn’t want to RBG. Glad to know I’m not the only one with an obsession!
Above is a screenshot of the spells I’m running 90% of the time. I switch some out for big boss battles, but tend to go back to the same stuff for regular running around and slaying of everything in my path!
Below is a rundown of my spells:
Poison Dart: Rune – Spined Dart
Corpse Spiders: Rune – Medusa Spiders
Summon Zombie Dogs: Rune – Life Link
Mass Confusion: Rune – Paranoia
Acid Cloud: Rune – Acid Rain
Gargantuan: Rune – Restless Giant
Below are my passive skills:
Jungle Fortitude
Zombie Handler
Fetish Sycophants
One of the reason I picked Witch Doctor is because I love minions. I have a giant zombie and 4 zombie dogs running with me at all times. I also occasionally have bats, locusts, toads, spiders and little fetish shamans fighting by my side. Having a small army to fight for you is so much fun. I am gonna make another posts just on my minions, because they are so cool and all deserve a little recognition for the many deaths they have succumbed to keeping me alive!
Above are a couple screenshots of Diablo I took during our last encounter. It’s a fun little fight. You fight Diablo, then his shadow, then it’s back to the big baddie himself! I think he looks a lot like the Alien Queen from the Alien movies. Anyone else see the resemblance? The hubby and I were cracking up when we first saw him. I believe we have some sci-fi movie fans among the the design team at Blizzard!
Below is a screenshot saying I now get to move onto Hell mode.
Oh yeah Bring it cause I am Ready!!!
